LAGAN VALLEY REGIONAL PARK

The Regional Park is a mosaic of countryside, urban parks, heritage sites, nature reserves and riverside trails. The backbone of the Regional Park is the River Lagan and towpath – offering miles of level walking in tranquil, attractive surroundings. Don’t miss the chance to visit the Giant’s Ring is an ancient Neolithic site which predates the Egyptian Pyramids.

The Lagan towpath, starting only a short walk away from the hotel, stretches from the South of Belfast city all the way to Lisburn. Only accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, it is perfect for a walk in nature, between forest and river. We offer free paper maps at reception that show you how to access the path from the hotel, and points of interests along the river nearby.

Why not make your exploration more active? For those who prefer cycling down the towpath, we offer free bike hire (subject to availability) with a small fleet of adult and children bikes available at the hotel.

Not only is the Lagan Valley Regional Park the home to a diverse flora and fauna, it also boasts some pieces of history! Make sure to check out Shaw’s Bridge near the hotel, built in 1709. Further up the path is Giant’s Ring, a ‘henge monument’ believe to date back to the Neolithic or Bronze Age.
